Solenoids

There are many applications in today's industries where different magnetic fields, coils resistance and amps are required. Car starters, for instance, rely on electromagnetic fields to function properly. In other areas where controlled motion in a limited area is needed, Solenoids work well. Grainger carries a wide selection of reliable and affordable solenoids to use with electrical equipment, machines and vehicle engines.

Answer:
Continuous duty means that the coil is designed to be powered at all times. Intermittent duty means that the coil is designed to have power for short momentary periods. Continuous power applied to an intermittent duty coil will burn out the coil. Please call us at 1-800-Grainger if you need further assistance selecting the proper solenoid.
