Motor specifications cannot determine the capacitor values. The old capacitor has a VAC rating and a uF/MFD rating. If it is in a limited enclosed area, then the dimensions may be critical too. Give us a call with that information, as we can locate the correct one for you. 1-800-Grainger

My bandsaw continues to spin for almost a minute after turning it off. Can I wire it to a reversing controller and throw it in reverse to stop the spin? Other suggestions for braking? It is a single phase, 110/220 volt, 4-pole, 1.5 hp induction motor which runs at 1720 RPM.

Unless the frame size contains a suffix of C, it will not be able to accept a C-frame brake. If it does have a C in it, give us a call with all of the motor info. 1-800-Grainger.

Answer: 
No there is not, drop all prefix letters in front of the NEMA standard Frame designation. Some 56C motors have a base mount, some do not, verify that, as that detail is not covered by a NEMA suffix letter.
