I have used a tap extractor and had varying results, but I was taught that on a small precision mold part or anything similar, drilling out the tap with a carbide drill slightly smaller than the tap drill provided the best results.
Guhring makes a straight flute drill that if you use the fine adjustment on the quill of a Bridgeport to take .005 depth of cut, it will go through the HSS of the tap in no time and the sides will almost fall in on themselves. If its in a CNC mill, you can program the pecks to that amount too.
The tap extractors sometimes damage the side walls of the threads, but its the first tool I would try, and good luck.
