DC Motors

Grainger carries a large supply of DC motors, which are used in numerous industrial applications because the speed-torque relationship is so flexible. Speeds can be varied, and full torque can be reached within the operational speed range. Use the DC motor on constant-torque loads such as conveyor belts, elevators, cranes, extruders and more. Look here for DC metric permanent magnet motors, motor and control combinations and assemblies, DC wound field motors and more. Make Grainger your central source for DC motors.

Answer:
a dc motor, say 1/4 hp as an example, will make power to charge batteries if you spin the armature. as long as it spins, it will produce energy to fill your batteries, or overfill them, if you do not have a regulator. VERY IMPORTANT! A small motor will make small power, and take longer to fill your batteries. A larger motor will fill your batteries sooner, but needs more torque from your wind turbine. My current vertical wind turbine powers a 2kw generator, and could use another 2kw genny for really windy days. Have fun, learn a lot, but most of all, have fun!

These valves are at least 50 years old, and used @ a water plant. They drive the gears that operate the valve. AC electric comes in then goes through a rectifier, and changed into DC power for the motor. The old motors are 10" long, and 2 1/2" in Dia?/ with 4 wires.
