Check Valves and Backflow Preventers

Protect potable water supplies from contamination or pollution with check valves and backflow preventers from Grainger. When pressure fails or is reduced for water, it can bring contaminated water from the ground, from storage or from other sources drawn from the system. Hydronic, flow check valves provide positive shutoff when the circulator is not running.

I want to use a shallow well pump in stead of a sump for a pit. There are times when the pit is dry. If the pump loses its prime, it will not work. Which check or foot valve will hold water in the suction line so the pump does not lose its prime?

Answer:
Without knowing your pipe size, we cannot make a specific product recommendation. Please look at the foot valves on page 4107 of the current catalog, number 404. Please bear in mind that no valve will hold a prime indefinitely.
