For steel, a clean surface that receives a primer and then the paint coating is usually sufficient. I suggest that you call Grainger's Technical Product Support Team and let us learn more and then advise you on a solution. 800 472 4643

Answer: 
The toughest paint I know of would be powder coated,but that would be very expensive.

Answer: 
Grainger will offer many versions of this; please consider calling at 1-800-323-0620. From there, it can be determined if you are looking for a spray aerosol, quart or gallon container. Also please consider the differences between a rust reformer/convertor, and a rust inhibitive primer. An example of a rust convertor primer would be part number 5HE25, and a rust inhibitive primer would be part number 4YLC2.

I'm down to the bare substrate. Do I need to use an etching primer or can i use primer filler then primer sealer then top coat and clear? Please advise on automotive refinish. Thanks.

Grainger has contacted the product supplier and have been advised by them of the following: the automotive paint we carry is in a spray form and will not give you a professional look.
