Fire: Do not incinerate or dispose of batteries in a fire as they may expolode or rupture, possibly causing personal injury.
Discharged Batteries: It's best to immediately remove dead or weak batteries from devices to prevent possible "reverse polarity" which may cause leakage.
Fresh Batteries: Never mix old and new batteries together in a device as the portable power will only be as strong as the weakest battery and battery leakage may occur. It's best to replace all of the batteries in a device with new batteries of the same size and type/chemistry.
Battery Chemistry: To prevent battery leakage, never mix battery types in a device. Examples of battery types include alkaline, Carbon Zinc, (heavy duty) or rechargeable batteries.
Battery Polarity: Be aware of and carefully install batteries in the correct polarity direction (+ and -) per the device manufacturer's instruction or the device will not function.
Power Off: In storage, keep devices in the "off" position. It's best to remove the batteries altogether to prevent battery discharge which may cause possible leakage.
Battery Storage: Store batteries at room temperature or in a cool, dry location. Avoid extreme temperatures such as high heat or subfreezing. Today's batteries do not need to be stored in a refrigerator.
Cold Storage: Batteries cannot deliver much power when they are cold. You may find that the flashlight kept in your car in the middle of winter casts a faint beam. Let the batteries warm up to normal temperature, and try them again before you decide to replace the batteries.
