Fire Protection
Grainger has the products and services you need to help you prepare for, respond to, and recover from all hazards, including fires.
Fire is the most common of all disasters, causing more than 4,000 deaths and 25,000 injuries and property losses of more than $8B each year. The fires themselves are not the only danger - the heat and smoke can be dangerous as well, causing injury and damage, and possibly death.
Building a Preparedness Plan
A comprehensive emergency plan that has been communicated and tested with your personnel will help minimize loss to your business. Be sure to have personnel trained on CPR and First Aid, and compile an easily accessible emergency kit. FEMA, OSHA, and NIOSH have published recommendations on building preparedness plans.

Fire Prevention
Prevention is always the first and most important action you can take to avoid loss of life and property. Fire prevention tips and guidelines exist within all communities and for all types of business operations, so your best first step is to check with your community and industry experts for guidance.
Fire Prevention Tips
- Make sure all electrical wiring is inspected by an electrician and is in good repair
- Store flammable liquids in approved containers and cabinets in well-ventilated storage areas away from heat and spark sources.
- If open flames are used, make sure that they are kept away from walls, insulation, and all other flammable items.
- If you use flammable chemicals in your facility, make sure that all employees working with them know and abide by the fire standards that apply.
Fire Protection
Structure fires can spread rapidly, so immediate action is essential to saving lives and property. You can mitigate losses with a prompt, well-planned preparedness and response plan. Most importantly, make sure your communication plan is in place so you can reach all of your employees and confirm their safety.

- If you detect any remaining head or smoke, or see any sparks, evacuate immediately and contact fire officials.
-
