The punchout shopping method is also known as "tap-out" or "round trip." Our punchout catalog is working today for hundreds of customers. It is hosted by Grainger's award-winning website. Grainger has the capability to handle punchout catalogs including cXML, OCI, and OBI through multiple versions. The punchout shopping experience is very similar in nature to the Grainger.com experience. Consistency with Grainger.com provides a very easy transition for a customer to convert from the Grainger.com environment to the Grainger punchout catalog in support of a procurement initiative. The punchout catalog allows a buyer to place items on a requisition form and submit the requisition for approval back within the buyer’s procurement system.
Buyers access the same tools available on Grainger.com, including our Selection Guides, Manufacturer / Brand search, Product Index and Keyword search, along with the ability to create Personal Lists, access Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), and look at item technical specifications, required accessories and other valuable information. |

Some customers prefer to shop for Grainger products directly within their purchasing system. To support these customers, we provide electronic catalog content that may be loaded into a wide variety of purchasing applications. Working together, the customer and Grainger determine the data fields contained within this catalog, the data formats, and the file layout. Grainger has the ability to meet many different catalog specifications along with many different formats for deployment such as Microsoft Excel, tab delimited, or Catalog Interchange Format (CIF).
A couple of key limitations about electronic catalog files are important to note. First, a content file is a shopping aid, not a contractual obligation to pricing or availability. Pricing terms and conditions are documented in a customer’s contractual agreement, not in the content file. Second, an electronic catalog file is static, updated periodically, rather than the dynamic catalog on Grainger.com that is updated with new products on a daily basis. Grainger electronic catalog file customers receive updated content files three times a year. However, product additions and discontinuations along with pricing fluctuation will occur in between the refresh periods. |
