Recruitment

Grainger development and internship programs provide qualified candidates a unique opportunity to accelerate their careers. Members contribute to the business while simultaneously developing leadership skills. Participants engage in professional development activities such as networking, mentoring, and continued learning. Grainger’s development and internship programs are aimed at helping participants develop into the future leaders of our company.

If an internship or development program is in line with your professional goals, we encourage you to attend one of our on-campus events at your school to learn more about the opportunities available to you. You will learn about Grainger and speak with with recent hires as well as hiring managers.

We are interested in learning about you. Please contact Grainger’s College Relations Department, attention: susan.cansler@grainger.com.

If you are interested in opportunities outside of the internship and development programs, click here to learn about opportunities throughout the company.

FAQs

How many interviews will I have?

Our recruitment process usually consists of two formal interviews, one on your campus and one on our campus. The campus interviews will be conducted by a recruitment team member that is likely an alumnus of your institution and/or a member of Grainger staffing. The second interview will be conducted by program managers and/or sponsors for the position.

How long is the commute from Chicago?

Grainger is located in Lake Forest, IL., approximately 30 miles north of the city. We are conveniently located close to the highway. In addition, Grainger provides a shuttle service to our corporate campus for employees who ride the Metra from the city.

What can I expect to do during a summer internship?

Each summer intern, regardless of program or degree, is assigned to a specific project within a department. These projects support key business initiatives and often require cross-functional interaction. At the end of the internship, interns will give a presentation and share their deliverables with the department leadership team.

Will I receive benefits as a program participant?

Only full-time Development Program employees are eligible for benefits. Specifically, individuals in the Financial Development Program receive benefits.
