The USB-1 cable Uniden says is the remedy is out of stock. The RS232 has not been on PC for some time now. I have built 7 PC and none have the RS232 port. Uniden should send me, for free, a new USB-1 cable. As it stands I may return the unit. The only Warning i would have is for a Newbie or someone who is not a communications specialist get the Programming software and a subscription to Radio Reference because the learning curve using the instructions is very steep unless like i previously mentioned you are a pro. Other than that normal things apply cellular is blocked but the rest of the radio will do anything and everything that is legal to listen to that is out there no matter where you live in the United States.Also with Unidens DMA and 25,000 frque's combined with it's real time GPS capacity no matter where you roam your scanner will be automatically at home by turning on and off banks by your location this holds true for the Mobile DIN bodied 996XT as well, We have come along way baby from pairs of crystals to this do it all monster that Uniden is going to be hard pressed to come up with a new feature that makes trading these babies in and dropping another 5 bills on.
