It does help a little bit but note that it just gets "Cool" not "Cold". I actually wish I could soak it in ice water but the directions say not to. One thing that I didn't like: I didn't expect the width of the bandana to shrink to about half the size once the beads expand inside. It starts off at about 1.5" flat width and shrinks to about 3/4" and takes on a more rounded shape once it soaks so it looks a little weird on your forehead.
