Contrary to the website the pump is not self priming and says so in the instruction manual. The black plastic knob on top of the pump housing in the picture is the priming port. We pumped from a 55 gallon drum to a waste treatment system at about the same height. We filled the pump casing full of water as per the instruction but the pump wouldn't lift water to self prime. After filling the suction hose the unit worked.
