I got mine in 1993 after my divorce. It has proven RELIABLE, EFFICIENT, EASY TO USE, I have virtually NO COMPLAINTS! It DOES use DIRECT AIR FLOW! I really don't see where ANY other brand performs ANY BETTER! I've used SEVERAL before! I just RECENTLY replaced the brush belt & headlamp. Unfortunately, I've lost a few of the attachments{Mainly due to re-location} but MOST of our house is carpeted. Then again--I take care of my equipment!
