Filled it with oil and fuel push the electric start and it was on it's way. I let it run for 15 minutes and shut it down. I hope I never have to use it, but I'm confident I made the right choice. It puts out 8000 watts and will put out 12000 surge watts which I am pleased with. In addition, the motor has a lube system similar to a cars engine, which should give it a long life. The unit was easy to put and operate. I did have a gas leak at the shutoff valve but tightened the valve to the tank and the leak was quickly fixed. I like the portability and the fold down handles. Engine starts easily and then noise is reasonable. The Total Harmonic Distortion is less than 5% which is important to me because I have many solid state devices in my home. This unit is made in Wisconsin and I believe the quality to be better then the ones made in China. It was packaged very well, alot of thought went into the packaging to ensure the unit was not damaged during shipment. Out of the box the set up was minimal requiring basic tools to add the tires, connect the battery, and install the short peg legs. The time required was approximately 20 minutes. One issue with the unit was it would not start. I took it to a Generac service center and they identifed the issue as a broken ground wire connector. It was repaired in 2 days. The unit is now running as expected. The unit starts very quickly, approximately 10 seconds even on the coldest NewEngland days of 10 degrees. I am able to operate all appliances in my house, including the well pump, clothes dryer, pellet stove, and refridgerator. The lights in the house do not flicker as does my neighbors when he is on generator power. The unit is rather heavy so rolling it to the side of the house where I installed the power inlet box is a bit of a chore. I will most likley be crafting a cart or hitch to move it around with my ATV. I wouldn't imagine there is anyway to design an 8000KW any lighter and be as rugged as this unit is. In every aspect the generaotr has met or exceeded my expectations.
