Generac was recommended by several neighbors &amp; businesses in our area. Added protection included refrigerators,some lights and microwave. A few days after being installed we lost power for an extended period of time. The unit performed flawlessly. Since then it runs programmed testing every week as set. Unit has small foot print and very neat appearance.Noise level is not bad. Neighbors are inquiring about the unit and it's performance. They seem very interested. Changing oil can be performed easily. Peace of mind is worth the reasonable cost.Had it installed and it only took a few hours including the tie-in to the LP tank. Recommend! I had previously researched the Generac 7kw and when Consumer Reports rated it a best buy there was no reason to wait. It came equipped with everything necessary to install (sans the electrical wiring) with easy to follow instructions. Installation was straight forward and I finished in a couple of days. I works just as advertised. It occasionally blinks, but this time it was dead and sure enough the generator kicked on. The electric company said they would have power back in an hour and 50 minutes later the power came back on and the generator shut down. So my first 50 minute test worked exactly as it was supose to work. I'll reserve final judgement for an extended test like this past summer when power was out for 6 days.
