MOST OF US ARE NOT FARMERS ANYMORE. ONE CAN DYE OR COAT CANVAS WITH ANY COLOR IN THE RAINBOW. BLACK IS A BAD CHOICE FOR ARCTIC GEAR BECAUSE, WHEN IT'S WINTER IN THE ARCTIC IT'S DARK NEARLY ALL THE TIME. AND BLACK IN SNOW CAN BE TAKEN FOR ROCKS OR TREES. IT TENDS TO BE CONSIDERABLY DARKER IN THE REST OF NORTH AMERICA TOO. SO IF ONE ISN'T OPERATING IN STEALTH MODE, IT'S GENERALLY A VERY GOOD IDEA TO BE VERY VISABLE. ESP. IN OUTSIDE WORK SUCH AS CONSTRUCTION, SNOW SHOVELING, FISHING HUNTING, CROSS WALK ATTENDENT, GROUNDS KEEPING, ANIMAL TENDING, FURIERS, COURIER, ETC. ALSO, WINTER TENDS TO BE DREARY ANYWAY, AND THE FURTHER NORTH, THE LONGER THE WINTER, SO DARK AND DRAB IS DOWN RIGHT DEPRESSING. LAST BUT NOT LEAST AT ALL IS WOMEN WORK OUTSIDE TOO, TEND ANIMALS CHILDREN WALK TO WORK OR BUS STOPS, DARK IS GOOD FOR MECHANICS AND MEN MAYBE BUT THE OTHER HALF OF THE WORLD WANTS OPTIONS. CHEERFUL AND NOTICABLE OPTIONS. CAN'T BELIEVE YOU'D IGNORE WE WOMEN. (WE HAVE MORE CURVES TOO BUT WELL DO THE SAME COAT AS A MAN TO STAY WARM AND HAVE DURABLE CLOTHING. I was.ooking at the jeans jacket, that is going to be my next purchase. The order time to receiving the coat was great only one day.People at carheartt are friendly, answer all my questions. I am buying a great product and recommend it to my family and friends. March 22, 2013

Rated 5 out of 5 by ATurner Best Purchase Ever! I'm always cold. I've never owned a coat that was warm enough that I would leave the house in winter when it wasn't mandatory.I bought this coat a couple years ago, and I now go walking with my husband, even in the coldest weather. It's strange feeling the bitter cold on my legs and face, and almost sweating under my coat. It's durable, has plenty of large pockets- my ereader fits in one just fine! I got the optional hood, too. I tell everyone I can, if they want to be warm in winter, they NEED this coat! February 1, 2013

Rated 5 out of 5 by vicsan81 Just ordered a new one After more than ten years this coat is still in pretty good condition it keeps me warm with just a tee-shirt underneath and I am by no means a polar bear. I used to work in a factory now I am a teacher and I wear this coat with a shirt and tie no problem! I am buying a new one because I can't imagine using any other coat and the old one is getting too beat up for work (small stuff - broken zipper, Velcro loose) more cosmetic than functional. I love all the pockets (6 in all) the two front ones are huge, keep your hands warm and won't let you loose the things that you put in them. A word to the wise GET THE OPTIONAL HOOD its an extra 30 bucks but well worth it. January 1, 2013

Rated 5 out of 5 by Linemen351 Fantastic purchase I bought this same coat a few years back i can honestly say you can not destroy this coat. This jacket is the best. You can wear it with just a t-shirt and long sleeve shirt, and stay comfortably warm. The two inside pockets are great for a large bi-fold wallet on one side, and mail, tri-folded papers, and pens on the other. The large outer pockets are bottomless (9"wide by 12" tall with a cutout opening, with no closure- but i've never had anything fall out) you can fit a folded in half sheet of paper, gloves, earmuffs or knit hat and anything else you can think of. Even though the outer pockets aren't insulated, they can block the wind on a cold day and still keep your bare hands warm. The other day i lost my car keys in there with my gloves and other stuff, and didnt even hear them jingling around. There are 2 smaller outer pockets (5"x5") on top of the larger ones good for small pieces of paper or an ID and credit card. Carhartt's level of care is unbeatable. Four years after owning it i had a problem with the zipper. I emailed Carhartt, they emailed me a postage paid UPS label, and I dropped it off at a local ship center. They replaced the zipper and shipped it back to me within 7 business days. Nine years later and still going strong. The cordoroy collar has faded a little with my washings, but the cordura hasn't faded any.(cold wash and hang dry). My only regret is not researching further and buying a tall size (the store where purchased only carried regular sizes). At 6'3", 180 lbs, the Large size I purchased would be better in Tall with a little extra length in the sleeves. February 3, 2011

Rated 5 out of 5 by CAAS Great winter work jacket! I waited three weeks after I got my Carhartt arctic quilted lined jacket and hood to write this review because I really put it to some tests. I work nightshift as a mechanic for a regional railroad company so I’m outdoors in all kinds of weather. When I got the jacket I was kind of skeptic because it is thin and fairly light weight. On a 3 degree snowy windy night this jacket kept me so warm with just a long sleeve shirt underneath. It protects against the biting wind too. The jacket is really well designed. The zippers are easy to use with gloves on. It’s also easy to put things in the pockets with gloves on. Just real well designed. The optional hood is great too. With the hood up and the Velcro flap fastened it seals up around your face so cold air or snow cant get in. The jackets material is very durable and water resistant. Defiantly won’t tear easily. All and all it’s a super work jacket! February 2, 2011

2next>>
