It is very rugged, and both the housing and the range-selector switch have a nice, solid feel. I have found the VoltTect to be of marginal utility, but it will tell you if you're near a mains-voltage conductor (just not which wire, even if they're separated by a bit of distance -- it's not very selective). The product description page does contain an error -- it's a manual-ranging meter. This is actually a good thing in many cases, as manual-ranging tends to be a bit slow and auto-ranging meters tend to get "confused" by pulsed signals. In summary, it's a great meter. If you need a basic meter, there is no reason not to buy one! May 31, 2012

Rated 5 out of 5 by strebus58 I like manual ranging meters It has the most needed ranges for a general use digital multimeter.
